St. Michael Trees Project Underway

Planting

50,000 saplings are almost ready to be out planted.
Local farmers are learning to develop their own fertilizers through composting.
Black beans are nearing harvest.
Sweet potato sites are being prepared by farmers; sweet potato plantings will be surrounded with trees as “live fencing.”
Farmers are learning the techniques for tree planting on bald and degraded mountain tops.
Farmers continue to work in the nurseries nurturing all the growing trees and learning how to raise trees in a sustainable way.
