A Prodigious Love: Dramatic Tension

We live our lives in a state of dramatic tension.

We experience a desire for self-sufficiency that directly competes with our need to connect with others.

We want to stand freely on our own two feet while also being open and vulnerable to others.

When looking beyond ourselves, we might even wonder why an infinitely perfect God chose to share himself with his imperfect creatures.

Perhaps it is at Mass where these tensions and uncertainties can create something positive.

Perhaps it is at Mass where personal freedom and mutual dependence can combine to create a sacred place.

Perhaps it is at Mass where we can offer ourselves to each other and, in so doing, create a Christian identity as a people who share.

At Mass we celebrate the memorial of Christ's sacrificial offering. And we thank him that we too have something to offer and share.
