As part of a recent ministry trip, five teens from St. Margaret Mary met with young Haitians and discussed planning joint service projects involving teens from both parishes. Several teens had worked with their Bishop Moore Haiti Club to provide first aid kits for the main parish and each of the 4 schools at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. SMM youth & Haitian students receiving music lessons through our ministry shared their love of music by performing for one another and with an impromptu dance party. The youth enjoyed soccer and frisbee games together after touring Our Lady of Fatima School and sat in on a veterinary team meeting to learn about livestock in Haiti.
The experience offered the opportunity for our teens not only to learn & serve, but also to grow in friendship & solidarity with our Haitian brothers & sisters. The young people are enthusiastic about creating future opportunities to work together through our Haiti Ministry. Upcoming Haiti Ministry trips include a veterinary program and a trip for the dedication of the newly built chapel.
