Film Screening: The Unruly Mystic

Monday, September 16th, 7pm Antioch Room

This week we celebrate the feast day St. Hildegard of Bingen (9/17) whose challenge in the 12th century to deepen our awareness of how nature connects us to God speaks to us today as we strive to meet the challenge in the papal encyclical Laudato Si to an ecological conversion. St. Hildegard wrote, “The fire has its flame and praises God. The wind blows the flame and praises God. In the voice we hear the word which praises God. And the word, when heard, praises God. So all of creation is a song of praise to God.” You are invited to a screening of the film The Unruly Mystic, which explores the relevance to modern people of the work of St. Hildegard, a medieval abbess & mystic, composer & medical practitioner, who is one of only 4 female doctors of the church.
