What is contained in our "Amen" response when we receive the Body and Blood of Christ in Holy Communion?
Does our Amen lead us to understand the challenging claim made by Pope Leo XIII when he said, "The renovation of the world will be brought about only by the Holy Eucharist."?
Does our Amen allows us to hear more clearly Saint John Vianney's bold statement, "Without the Holy Eucharist there would be no happiness in this world; life would be insupportable."?
Perhaps with each Amen we are saying that we sincerely wish for a richer faith and a deeper understanding.
Perhaps with each Amen we are telling God that we need the Eucharist to help us get there.
