What expression on your face would someone see when you receive the Eucharist? Would it be like the expression you have when you meet a good friend?
Perhaps how we look and feel are determined by the depth of our friendship.
In this week's Year of the Eucharist quotation, St. Ephrem the Syrian advises that "the purer we are" the more we "receive" when we encounter the Lord in the Eucharist.
Perhaps every encounter with a friend involves both giving and receiving. The kind of giving and receiving that creates joyful feelings on the inside and a smile on the outside.
