Family Promise

Next hosting week is June 4–11

Family Promise of Greater Orlando has partnered with Poverty Solutions Group to bring the National Circles Initiative to Orlando. Circles partners families who have experienced poverty and homelessness with volunteers who are trained to help those families gain economic stability and avoid the risk of homelessness and poverty in the future. Circles needs people like YOU to build relationships with these families and help end the cycle of poverty in our community. Circles will begin training the next group of volunteers in July.

“I have been an “Ally” in Central Florida's first Circles group for the past 20 months.  Circles is a unique program which allows "Leaders" (persons trying to pull themselves out of generational poverty) to lead the way. “Allies" (those who walk with them during a part of the process) are there, as a friend or family member might be, to provide a listening ear, networking contacts, or relevant experience and skills that the Leader might be interested in learning more about.   Through the process, I have learned how to be a better listener, a tiny bit more patient, and more open-minded.  In addition, the program provides excellent training for both the Leaders and Allies on the barriers to overcoming generational poverty, and experience with practical steps in pursuit of financial stability. This program goes beyond a transactional volunteer experience, and just might be just what you are looking for.” – Louise Thompson, Parishioner
