SMM Awards 7 Grants to Non-Profit Groups Helping People in Need

Since the completion of the Parish Hall and church offices in the early 2000’s, St. Margaret Mary has offered a Capital Outreach Grant Program.  The grant program provides funds to assist non-profit organizations that serve people in need.  Grant deadlines are March 1 and September 1 of each year.

Its inception was directed by Fr. Walsh who wanted to make sure we, as a parish, continued our call to discipleship outside the walls of our Winter Park location.  And so, for more than the last 20 years, we have provided more than 375 grants to over 150 different organizations in central Florida and abroad.

A grant committee reviews each of the applications and as a group, determines whether an award is made and what amount is appropriate based on the request, need and scope of impact of the use of the funds.

The awardees for the Fall 2025 cycle include:

  • Rotary Club of Winter Park – Killarney School Food Pantry
  • Society of St. Andrew – The Florida Gleaning Network
  • Boys & Girls Club of Central FL – Sponsorship for camp for at-risk youth in Eatonville
  • Central Florida Vocal Arts – Arts Education for children who have experienced trauma
  • IDignity – establishing valid identification for 13 Winter Park residents
  • Welbourne Avenue Nursery and Preschool – Scholarships for childcare for low-income families
  • Grace Medical Home – Adult Primary Care visits for the uninsured
