Promises of the Sacred Heart: Promise 12

When a magician performs a magic trick, they manipulate a series of events to gain a desired outcome. This promise is not that. It would be wrong to assume that this promise is a mere formula to be adhered to. If that were the case it would be reducing the love of Jesus from the pure gift that it is, to a goal which needs to be accomplished. No, receiving the Eucharist for nine consecutive first Fridays is not a magic trick. Rather, it opens us up to receive the love of Jesus and recognize the infinite ocean of mercy which pours forth from his Sacred Heart.
